William Wordsworth’s “ten thousand golden daffodils” will be the first thing that will strike your mind during Vasant Panchami. This is because of the visual treat of nature that surrounds the entire country during the occasion of Vasant Panchami.  The color yellow has an immense importance on this occasion as mustard crop fields get filled with yellow colored flowers. ‘Basant Panchami’ also known as ‘Vasant Panchami’ is celebrated with great fervor and joy every year. It falls on the fifth day of Magh, ‘Basant’ means spring and ‘Panchami’ means the fifth day in Hindi language. This year, Vasant Panchami falls on the 24th of January.  Vasant Panchami has many traditions and legends associated with it.

This festival marks the beginning of the spring season but most importantly, Vasant Panchami also marks the birthday of Goddess Saraswati. Goddess Saraswati is known as the Goddess of music, art, knowledge, culture and wisdom. Thus, Saraswati Puja withholds immense importance for the students as well. It has been a tradition which has been followed since time immemorial because the Goddess is believed to have appeared on this particular day. Therefore, Saraswati Puja also holds of great importance on the day of Vasant Panchami.

According to renowned Vaastu expert – Dr. Rupa Batra, everything in your house creates a vibration or energy which is either good or bad that can affect how you think and feel. You can present your child with a musical instrument as it is auspicious to gift something related to arts, music, or books. But of all these, musical instrument is considered one of the most powerful tool in boosting love for arts amongst children as the vibration created by musical instrument are not just soothing for the ear but are also good for the development of the child’s brain.

Dr. Rupa Batra’s Vaastu formula for your child’s room:

The room should be clean with minimum clutter

Study room should be in the north-east, east and west direction of the house.

Create two or three cartons with lids and label them as-clothes, toys and stationary. Try putting in all the things at the right place such that room looks neat and tidy at the end of the day.

The child must face east or towards north while studying.

The study room should have proper lights. Dim lights are a big NO-NO.

The student should not face blank walls

The study table should be a square or a rectangle. Tables with fancy shapes should be avoided.

Having the image of goddess Saraswati in the study room is very auspicious

A pyramid should be kept on the study table as it balances the energies

Subtle shades should be selected for the study rooms.

The book shelf should not be placed on top of the study table.

Musical Instruments should be well placed in the room with no dirt on it, any broken instrument should not be kept, make sure to repair it as early as possible…as it emits negative vibration.
